This program will include a brief background on understanding policies: how to read a policy generally, the flow chart of policy interpretation, and examples of policy complications.

Our speakers will address the common hurdles faced in policy disputes:

1. Getting to accidental direct physical loss (the myth of a single event; coverage trigger examples)

2. Common exclusions (long term plumbing leak; long term roof leak; wear and tear; discovery vs. actual start of loss; proving the unavailable contents; ensuing loss)

3. Common problems after coverage is afforded (estimates at time of loss or time of payment; timeline for repairs; recoverable depreciation)

This course will discuss how adjusters who assist the carriers and those who assist the policyholders can both professionally and ethically maneuver from a seemingly impossible settlement landscape to a palatable resolution.

Often times these resolutions happen during mediation but often times if adjusters are armed with the power and the knowledge, they could resolve the dispute. Dispute resolution is not easy but by understanding the claim details and all factors involved, resolutions can be reached.

Our speakers are highly experienced in first party property insurance disputes and negotiations. They will offer concrete tips and techniques for overcoming hurdles to claim resolutions.

Attendees will learn strategies to employ to encourage dispute resolution and insight on mediation and settlement negotiations. This course will consider dispute resolution DFS mediation and court required mediation but will not address appraisal or arbitration.
