WIND Announces Day of Caring Community Service Project to Kick Off the 16th Annual Windstorm Insurance Conference in New Orleans

Windstorm Insurance Network, Inc. (WIND) will host the 16th Annual Windstorm Insurance Conference on January 19-22, 2015 at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans.

The 2015 conference will focus its theme on the recovery, rebirth and revitalization of New Orleans in the past decade since Hurricane Katrina struck the city on August, 29, 2005.

WIND has partnered with HandsOn New Orleans, a nonprofit volunteer action center that promotes community service in New Orleans. The goal of the Day of Caring Service Project is to provide conference attendees an opportunity to give back to the City of New Orleans.

On January 19, 2015, from 9 am – 12 noon, some 50 volunteers from WIND will help revitalize the Success Preparatory Academy Charter School, a kindergarten through 6th grade high performing “transformation” charter school that opened its doors in August 2009. SPA serves some of the most at-risk children in the country, as the school has a population of 96% free and reduced lunch students. Volunteer activities include building and staining picnic tables, painting the cafeteria and painting school murals.

The service project is open to attend for all paid conference registrants, but is space is very limited. A commemorative T-shirt, transportation and lunch will be provided for all attendees.
